Hi all! Many of you have asked how you can bring up your grade. I think I've found a solution. Below is your final project that is due May 1. This is called a Book Mosaic. It is pretty self-explanatory-- just read the instructions at the top of the sheet . There is even an outline of where to put each section of the mosaic! Surprise... this will be your final grade for the semester and will also be a FORMAL grade. Should you choose to complete it, you could bring your grade up a point or two (not a mathematician... I teach English!) Also, to make this easier on you all and to give everyone a fighting chance, please complete this project over our last novel, "The Awakening". Note: For the 'connection' tiles, you should make a connection between the text and something in your own life, or something you have observed (in life, or maybe in a movie or another book.) Since it's a formal grade, this will be graded just like you were sitting in class, so please make sure you do your best work on this. Don't forget to read the directions at the top of the table and complete that part as well before turning in your mosaic! So there it is! Again, this is here for you to complete if you want to bring your grade up and continue learning, but you MUST turn it in by May 1 at 3pm.
Hey all! I miss you SO MUCH! Just know that I'm sending each of you a virtual hug right now. Per the letter from Mr. Pruitt that went out last week, here's a couple of things I want to make sure I'm communicating and reiterating to you all:
1.) If you are failing as of March 16, you have until May 1 to complete the work that has been on this webpage since school was out on March 17. 2.) If you are NOT failing but you would like to improve your grade, you have until May 1 to bring up your grade. 3.) How do you bring up your grade? By completing the work posted on this website since March 16. 4.) I will put in all the work you have done since March 17 back in GradeBook once I get approval from administration. I'm hoping it will be sometime this week. 5.) Look for this week's lessons in another post sometime Monday afternoon/ early Tuesday. (Theater, yours will be on the Theater tab.) I know this is a trying time for you all, but I want you to know that I and your teachers are here for you! If you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or one of your other teachers or someone on administration. Love- Mrs. Dill Hey all!
I hope you had a relaxing Spring Break (well... a relaxing break in general) and are ready to dive back in with our book, The Awakening. This week, your job is to finish reading chapter 21-30 and work on your study guide, as you have done every week. I am also tagging on another project I hope you will enjoy! The one assignment you will be turning in on or before April 9 before 11:59 pm is a Twitter page based on one of the characters from The Awakening! Now, some of you might not have Twitter, so I have also attached a Twitter page for you to view as an exemplar as well as a blank template you will use to complete your project. Get creative. Make a funny handle (@independentwoman or @x-pressyoseff for Edna). This is going to be fun! Here are your rules/ expectations: 1. You must fill out EVERY portion of this page. (If you do not have a printer, you must draw this out on paper and fill it out that way.) The BLUE birds are what YOUR character would say. The GREEN birds are what your character has retweeted. 2. You must be creative but academic at the same time. Be sure to use speech etiquette from their time period and speak as if you were the character. (I really hope you get creative with this. Everyone needs a good laugh at this point.) 3. You must use academic language as well as sticking to how your chosen character would have spoken to others. No cursing or crude language should be anywhere on your assignment. 4. Your project should reflect knowledge based on what happens in chapters 21-30. You cannot use information from only chapter 21 and nothing from the other chapters. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected] or message me on Remind. Can't wait to see your projects! Hey guys (English AND Theater students!)
I'm doing something a little different this week... I'd like for you to not only complete the study guide questions for the next chapter set (English 3= chapters 11-20 and Theater=Act 3), but I'm adding something I hope will brighten your day/week while we are apart. I want you to complete a "wellness activity". Choose from one of the wellness activities (found at the button below), complete the activity, log your activity, and send in your responses by Friday, March 27 at 3 pm via email. *Pay attention to the NOTE at the bottom of the document! Good morning, all!
Amidst this hysteria and chaos, I want to offer some peace and reassurance. I will post on this page once a week. You task is to complete all assignments found within each post by 3pm on the Friday of the end of that week and email them to me. My email address is [email protected]. If you need to reach me quickly for a small question, please use Remind. 1st block code is @a3428h; 2nd block code is @kcack4d; 4th block code is @ddbbb9. All of these codes should be sent to the phone number 81010. English III: Read chapters 1-10, as we discussed in class. Answer the study guide questions along the way. Answer these discussion questions in 5-7 sentences EACH and email them to me by Friday at 3 pm. 1.) How does Edna change from chapter 3 to chapter 5? Give specific examples from the text. 2.) Describe the significance of the Creole culture within the novel. Give specific examples of how the people in this culture act and present themselves. 3.) What might be a central theme in chapters 1-10? Give specific examples from the text. Theater I: Timeline of due dates are on the Theater tab. Please look at those carefully to make sure you're staying on task :) As always guys, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to me via Remind or email. Love you all! Hi there! I am ecstatic and blessed to be your English III teacher for the semester. A couple of things you need to know. You will need a lot of paper for this class. If you feel you might have too much paper, you're on the right track! You'll also need pencils... lots of pencils. You will be writing every single day in some capacity, so know that one pack of pencils will probably only last the first quarter of the semester. It would help to have a couple of highlighters and black/ blue pens when we do certain activities. I will try to notify you in advance before those activities arise so you are prepared. Speaking of prepared, come ready to learn every single day with a positive attitude. That is my #1 non-negotiable! Not every day is filled with sunshine and daisies. I get that; but, if you make an effort to do right and try, I guarantee you'll learn and might even have some fun in the process.
I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and having fun learning together! -Mrs. Cari Dill |
